Today's incorrect categories come from the same user IP that bothered us a week ago. These are not nearly as egregious as before, but it's still frustrating. I'm not sure if they're misguidedly trying to help, or if it's just a bored kid having fun.
I guess they're going to keep coming back and we'll have to watch for that, or suspend their IP for at least a week so they notice and have to look at their wall to figure out what gives. Maybe then they'll see my message?
I dunno. It's not a ton of work, but it is extra effort each time they visit, and that's mental energy better spent elsewhere.
At first I though it was just a spammer / bot, and would not have had a problem with a perma IP ban. But the category added to L3-37 (Crew) was correct and helpful, so I think a "wait and see" stance will work in this instance. I don't mind undoing a small amount of incorrect stuff once in a while, but if it gets too much or too often, we can do something about it then.
I have some good news for you from Fandom. :) We would like to recognize all your efforts on this wiki that make it one of the best Gaming wikis on Fandom. Please contact me on Discord at Moviesign#6611 for the details. If you are not on Discord, then you can reach me by email using Moviesign at fandom.com. I hope to hear from you soon!
I'm not sure. On the one hand, it'd be nice to have official sanction from FFG, especially since (according to the Q/A in the comments) FFG wouldn't have editorial control over what is posted here. But on the other hand, I'm not sure that there is much need for it and a whole bunch of the benefits listed in the article don't really apply here.
As for how to go about it, it looks like Fandom is wanting the wikis to get them a contact with the Studio. So if we wanted to do that here, we would probably need to contact FFG. I might have a way to do that if it came to it (well other than calling up FFG directly), but it's a friend of a friend of a friend sort of possibility. :)
It might be nice to be official if that means FFG is easier to contact with player questions, or if they provide material to fill out the wiki sooner (like card images). Or they may not be interested in doing any of that... hard to say.
There are too many pilots to list on one page (over 300 of them). Each ship name is a link to a page that includes all the quick builds for that ship, with the Pilot and upgrades listed under the Threat Level heading.
I'd consider implementing more of a table-by-faction, compactly listing all upgrades per pilot and ship, similar to FFG's quickbuild charts that shows all the info. But I haven't had time to really look it over, and it's a lot of work -- we've had help from a fantastic team who all came together to get it done (and then update it when quickbuild PDFs changed).
But as NSpace pointed out, there are hundreds of pilots and a giant page could quickly get unwieldy (slow to load, possibly slow to run in or crash some apps or mobile browsers). So it needs to be split up in some way or other. Right now they're split up by ship, and linked to on the main quickbuild page.
If you'd like to create an account and start building the compact per-faction quickbuild pages, that would be fantatsic!
We did it this way so the ship's infobox is only ever filled out once, no matter how many pages need to display it. If we need to change the info on a ship, we do it in one place and all pages showing that ship infobox update automatically. One point of control is really powerful! ^_^
