Ship size can be Small Size small, Medium Size medium, or Large Size large.  The size determines the size of the ship's plastic base, and can influence which upgrades are available to the ship. Ignoring the small front and back guides, ship bases are square.

  • Small ships have a base edge length of 4cm, or a 1 straight maneuver template.
  • Medium ships have a base edge length of 6cm.
  • Large ships have a base edge length of 8cm, or a 2 straight maneuver template.

Due to the difference in base size, bigger ships move further across the play area than smaller ships do using the same maneuver. This effect can be even more noticeable when performing certain Actions, like Barrel Roll, Boost or SLAM. Additionally, the Barrel Roll action is performed slightly differently using ships above size Small. (TODO: Not sure here, do Medium ships do it differently than small ones?)

Medium and Large ships are also more resilient towards being ionized than Small ships. To become ionized, ...

  • ... a Small Size small ship must have at least 1 ion token assigned to it.
  • ... a Medium Size medium ship must have at least 2 ion tokens assigned to it.
  • ... a Large Size large ship must have at least 3 ion tokens assigned to it.

For more information, see Ion Tokens.
